Predictions of an economic recession are on the rise with the commentariat suggesting that the fact that the US economy is entering its 11th year of expansion, now the longest on record, and the appearance of an “inverted yield curve” are signals for an imminent demise. While we believe the US and world economy are simply too vast and complex and chaotic to ever be sending such clear signals, for better or worse, economic signals are noisy.
