Featured FinTech
FinTech, or Financial Technology, refers to the innovative use of technology to streamline financial activities. While you may initially visualize FinTech as fancy smart phone apps, consider, also, how ATMs replaced bank tellers or how credit cards eased the burden of carrying cash – that’s FinTech! Over the next few months, we’d like to share with you some of the FinTech products that are catching our eye, and highlight them in this space we’re calling Featured FinTech. On deck today is an app called BusyKid, a chore and allowance platform for kids and parents – check it out!

Build a Kit, Make a Plan
Considering the trend of weather events over the past few years, it appears that our reality is a world in which wildfires are an annual event in the West and extreme weather strikes everywhere else. In this reality, having an emergency plan is imperative. We’ve periodically written articles on emergency preparedness, and the same mantra is always true: build a kit, make a plan. With peak hurricane season around the corner, it seems timely to share suggestions, tools, and checklists to ensure you’re prepared for whatever weather comes your way.

Meet the Team: Karen Simons
Last year, Yeske Buie was invited to join a pilot program called the Financial Planner Reentry Initiative, which is focused on diversifying the financial planning workforce by offering internships for experienced, professional, women, seeking to return to the workforce. From this program, Yeske Buie had the privilege of being connected with Karen Simons. Karen started working with us as a Re-Intern in February, and it didn’t take long to see that her high-quality work, care for our Clients, and wealth of expertise were bar none. Today, we are pleased to share that Karen has joined our team full time as a Financial Planning Apprentice. Join us in welcoming Karen to the team by reading our latest edition of Meet the Team.
