I Bought a Home – Now What?

sold house

After hours of researching the perfect neighborhood, touring who knows how many houses, and signing what feels like one hundred papers, it’s finally yours. Your very own home. The reality of this new chapter in your life can be both exciting and overwhelming. And whether it is your first home or you’ve been around the block a few times, it’s worth creating a plan to ensure your home buying decision aligns with your big-picture financial plan. In this piece, we share our thoughts on items to think through as you move along the journey of buying a home.

Financial Perfection vs. Financial Progress

Winston Churchill had many lasting and impactful aphorisms. One saying, attributable to his wit and insight, is, “Perfect is the enemy of progress!”. Churchill likely borrowed this saying from the late seventeenth century philosopher, Voltaire, who probably adopted it from an earlier unknown work. Regardless of its origin, here at Yeske Buie and as members of the financial planning profession, the saying’s truth and timeless wisdom resonates with us. Read on for more about overcoming the tendency to seek perfection in your finances and how to tackle feelings of inertia standing in the way of achieving your financial goals.

In Case You Missed It: Midterms, Markets, and Money

Earlier this week, we hosted a live webinar where we shared our thoughts on our post-election direction, diving into legislative opportunities following the midterm elections, economic variables to watch in the markets, and staying resilient in the face of change. In case you missed the live webinar, a recording is now available on our website. As always, if you have any questions related to the webinar or elsewise, please do not hesitate to contact us. And stay tuned for details on future live webinars!

Family Trees: Learn, Teach, Share

Rather than taking a side dish to this year’s Thanksgiving celebration, consider taking a copy of your family tree, instead. Exploring your family tree can be such a powerful exercise; it kindles stories about the people important to us, the lessons learned, and the memories and legacy we hope to impart. The Yeske Buie team recently took the time to complete our family trees, and today we share the lineage of a variety of our team members. We hope you find our trees enjoyable, and if you find yourself inspired to complete your own, we hope you will share it with us so we can learn more about those most important to you.

Tis the Season: Timeless

Cappella SF

Three years ago, Elissa and Dave became involved with Cappella SF, an exceptional a cappella group founded and directed by Ragnar Bohlin, Emmy award winning director of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. We were dazzled by the group’s first Christmas album, Light of Gold, that released in 2015 and this year, we are excited to share that Capella SF has released a new album entitled, Timeless: Ten Centuries of Music. Just like the first, this new CD reminds us of the joy that Cappella SF’s music brings us, and we hope that it fills your ears and soul the same way it has for us.

To anyone who is interested, we would like to offer you a copy of this CD; simply email and she will promptly ship one to your home. Here is a link to a sample of Timeless that will give you a taste of what this CD has in store for you. Happy Holidays!
