Update on 1099s and Tax Day Reminder
As an update from our previous communication regarding Corrected 1099s for some Clients, the delayed information from the mutual funds in Yeske Buie portfolios did not, in the end, necessitate any changes in the 1099s. The original 1099 that was prepared contains the most current information and should be used in the preparation of your taxes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
This year, you have a few extra days to file your 2015 Federal and State tax returns as Tax Day 2016 falls on April 18th. Why the delayed date, you may ask? You can thank Washington, D.C. for the extra three days. Washington, D.C. recognizes Emancipation Day as a government holiday which is typically observed on April 16th. This year, however, April 16th falls on a Saturday, so the holiday will be observed on Friday, April 15th. Because government offices will be closed April 15th, Tax Day is moved to Monday, April 18th.
