Facetious Financial News
For nearly a decade, Elissa and Dave have been defining the characteristics of an ideal financial planning policy to help anchor Clients to a consistent course of action despite changes in external circumstances. Their work in this field has become increasingly important for many reasons, but especially when considering the steady stream of news and gossip that inundates today’s world and threatens to move Clients off course. With financial news, or what we prefer to call financial noise, in a current lull, we wanted to share a satirical video that we feel is the epitome of all financial noise. We encourage you to watch the humorous segment titled “Every TV News Report on the Economy in One” for a good laugh today, and to keep it as a distraction whenever “the numbers” begin to feel scary.

Yeske Buie’s BIGGEST Company Retreat
The Yeske Buie team gathered in San Francisco last week for our biggest semi-annual retreat to date. We recognize this as our biggest retreat not only because of the size of our staff, but also because of our retreat work. This year, the team focused on solidifying Yeske Buie’s worldviews and core beliefs which resulted in the formation of what we call, the BIGs. Learn more about the BIGs and see pictures from our week together in San Francisco.

Taking Advantage of Catch-Up Contributions
Are you turning 50 in 2016 and currently working? Or have you recently turned 50? If so, this message applies to you. First of all, Happy Birthday and cheers to your youthful wisdom! In the year you turn 50, you become eligible for catch-up contributions to your retirement accounts. We recommend you take advantage of this ability and contribute the maximum, including the catch-up, wherever possible. For a 401(k) or 403(b), the maximum deferral amount is $18,000 (plus $6,000 if you are 50 or older). For IRAs, the maximum deferral amount is $5,500 (plus $1,000 if you are 50 or older). We will be reaching out individually if this recommendation applies to you, but we encourage you to pass along this information to your friends who may not receive the recommendation otherwise.
