TheLiveBigWay® Digest: Winter is Coming
Winter is Coming
We’ve been talking about (and perhaps agonizing over) the same headlines all year, and what a year it’s been. As we head into the final quarter of 2022, we thought we’d spend a few minutes reflecting on how the third quarter unfolded. Click here to watch a bite-sized version of our normal webinar commentary in which we review what’s been happening in financial markets, offer a few thoughts on inflation and interest rates, and identify the key items we’ll be watching as the year comes to a close.
October Tips and To Dos
If you consider this space to be a place to share the ABCs of personal finance, this month’s focus would be on the letter ‘F’ – FSA, FAFSA, and financial planning. Take a deeper dive into each of these three topics with us and as always, feel free to reach out with any questions related to your personal financial life.
Use It or Lose It
If you have a flexible spending account (FSA), you typically have until December 31 to spend the funds you’ve deferred. With less than 80 days left this year, plan ahead so you don’t lose out!
Keep Calm and File On
The application window to file for federal financial aid for the 2023 – 2024 school year opened on October 1. Here’s what you need to know about the application process.

ICYMI: Cybercrime and Scammers in Today’s Digital World
Earlier this week, we went live with veteran information security professional, Erich Kron, and had a lively conversation about cybercriminals, the psychology behind common scams, and how to stay protected. Erich shared a number of valuable stories and suggestions, and we think you’ll find yourself feeling the need to change a password or two by the end of the video! In case you missed it, here’s a recording of the engaging and informative presentation and a cheat sheet Erich shared that can help you avoid a scam!
Preventing Password Problems
Recent studies suggest that the average person could have as many as 100 passwords in their digital life – 100! While it’s nearly impossible to remember that many, taking shortcuts by reusing or simplifying passwords can make your personal information vulnerable. To that end, we share one way to stay sane as you try to remember your passwords.
2021 Final Tax Deadline
The 2022 tax filing season is nearing it’s end with the deadline to file your extended 2021 returns coming up on Monday, October 17. After the deadline, our team will be in touch to request that you send us a copy of your final documents if you haven’t done so already. Having this information on hand is important for us to provide accurate tax-related advice through the rest of the year including analyzing Roth conversions, updating retirement capital projections, calculating tax projections, and tracking tax data that can impact investment decisions. If your return was recently completed, you can send it to us using one of the secure methods described here.
