The CARES Act
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law on Friday, March 27th. This Act is a large stimulus package aiming to help ease the economic struggles caused by the coronavirus. Some of the most notable components of the Act include direct payments to taxpayers, eliminated Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) in 2020, student loan payment deferral, and small business loans eligible for forgiveness. 2020 Tax-Filing Season
In case you missed it, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that both the filing deadline and the tax payments deadline for 2019 federal returns will be extended to July 15, 2020.Please note there are different requirements for corporate filers, and state deadlines may vary; we believe that your tax professional is the best resource for any decisions related to your specific circumstances.
