TheLiveBigWay® Digest: The Values Behind Your Experience
Dear Readers,
At YeskeBuie, our core values aren’t words that we framed and forgot. Rather, they are principles that were co-created and have been challenged, refined, and embraced over time, becoming the compass that guides our decisions and shapes our interactions and the way we serve you.
In this edition of the Digest, we are beginning a series that will explore each of our six core values, what we call The BIGs. Before highlighting them individually, we thought it would be meaningful to first share how they came to life. Our hope is that understanding their origins gives you even greater confidence, and perhaps a sense of pride, in knowing that the team you’ve entrusted is grounded in values you can recognize and may even embody in your own life.
Many of you already know Live Big and Give Big. But behind these familiar phrases, along with the other four core values, is a deeper story.
It begins in 2014 when our entire team gathered at a staff retreat and covered a chalkboard in single words that captured what makes YeskeBuie, YeskeBuie. In 2015, we returned to that work twice, clarifying the themes in the spring and refining the language in the fall. The result was the formal adoption of The BIGs:
For more than a decade, The BIGs have shaped how we lead, serve, and grow. They have been revisited at every retreat, embedded into our daily environment, documented in our BIGs Book, and refined when needed, including deepening our Client Big belief from “seeing the world through their eyes” to “feeling the world through their hearts.”
You may not see the flip charts or sticky notes firsthand, but you experience their impact in the empathy guiding our conversations, the creativity and groundedness of our recommendations, and our commitment to evidence-based and policy-based financial planning. From first contact through our discovery process, and every other step along your journey, our dedicated team is not only committed, but excited, to walk with you and serve you in alignment with our values. We have shared the full story of how The BIGs came to life here on our website, complete with photos from those early retreats – you may even recognize a few familiar faces along the way! We hope you will take a few moments to read it.
