Mastering the Markets: The Case for Human Resiliency

Resilience

At Yeske Buie, one of our fundamental worldviews is that human beings are resilient by nature. Another of our fundamental worldviews is that markets reflect the aggregate decisions and behaviors of their participants. It is from these two axioms that we derive both our investment philosophy and the belief that over the long-term, the global markets, despite short-term disruptions, tend to go up. Read on to learn more about the relationship between the human trait of resiliency and market behavior.

Before I Die…

Earlier this month, members of the Yeske Buie team attended the Financial Planning Association’s Annual Retreat. As always, the conference was impactful and the speakers delivered exceptional presentations. But there was one session that was so powerful, Elissa Buie said that “it changed her life”. Today, we share the story of Candy Chang and continue the legacy of her beautiful experiment called The Before I Die project.

National 529 College Savings Plan Day

Jar with label college and money.

Education planning is frequently a topic we discuss with our Clients. It can be tricky to decide when and how to start saving as there are a number of unknown factors that can make estimating college costs challenging. In honor of National 529 College Savings Plan Day that was celebrated this week on May 29, we thought it would be worthwhile to revisit the topic to share more on two types of plans and our thoughts on the best available plans.

Our Financial Planning Resident Program

Yeske Buie implemented a Financial Planning Resident Program in 2014 and next week, we will welcome our sixth class of Residents! The purpose of the program is to leverage our Financial Planning Team and to help contribute to the pipeline of new planners entering the financial planning profession prepared to work with financial planning clients. Learn more about the evolution of our program over the past five years and stay tuned for features on our newest additions to the program.

Where in the World is the Live Big® Glass?

Tunisia

Perhaps due to inspiration from last week’s story about the Live Big pen, we’ve received a number of new photos of the Live Big glass that capture personal moments of our Clients, families, and friends living their Live Big lives. We hope you will check out the new photos, not only to see the glass’ recent journey, but also to see the new format of our photo gallery that we hope you’ll find to be engaging and moving. And as always, please don’t hesitate to share your photos with us!
