Meet the Team: Bradley Barry

Bradley Barry

At YeskeBuie, we believe that meaningful Client experiences are built through the steady, thoughtful work and dedication to getting better every day.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Bradley Barry, one of our Financial Planning Interns, who brings a fresh perspective, a strong growth mindset, and real enthusiasm for serving Clients. Whether he’s helping keep Client deliverables on track or collaborating on new Financial Literacy resources designed to support Clients and their families, Bradley’s work reflects the care and curiosity that define The YeskeBuie Way.

YeskeBuie: Hi, Bradley! We’re looking forward to learning more about you through this Meet the Team spotlight. To begin, could you tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to YeskeBuie?

Bradley: I’m originally from San Francisco, and I’m a finance major at San Diego State. I’ve always been drawn to financial planning, and I was interested in helping people and working directly with Clients. I attended a meeting with my university’s student Financial Planning Association (FPA) chapter, and that really helped confirm what I want to do. When I found YeskeBuie, the Client-first focus stood out immediately. It felt like the kind of place where the work that I’m passionate about really matters.

YeskeBuie: What types of projects have you worked on that directly support our Clients?

Bradley: I’ve worked a lot with Client deliverables — making sure documents are up to date and getting them posted on the Client Private Pages®. The project I’m most excited about, though, is the Financial Literacy initiative. Jack and I have been focusing on refreshing tools for Clients and their families, especially kids or recent grads, to help support financial independence.

YeskeBuie: We love that! The Financial Literacy project sounds like such a meaningful way to widen your impact on Clients. Can you talk more about what you’ve learned about Client care at YeskeBuie?

Bradley: I’ve had the privilege of sitting in Client meetings and attending Client events, and what really stands out is how personalized everything is. Every Client is different, so you can’t approach all meetings the same way. You tailor the meeting to what matters most to them — there’s no one-size-fits-all.

It’s cool to learn more about the interpersonal side of financial planning, too. I’ve seen the Financial Planning Team start meetings with questions like “What’s on your mind?” and “What’s most important to you in this moment?” which lets the Client be in charge of what they want to talk about. It opens up the floor to address their specific wants and needs, so we’re talking with them and not at them.

YeskeBuie: You captured that perfectly. “What’s top of mind?” seems like a simple opener, but it changes the whole energy of a meeting and helps others feel seen.

So we talked a bit about Financial Literacy — what’s something new you’ve brought to the team that you’re proud of?

Bradley: I think I bring a different perspective because I’m new to the profession. I’m still learning about financial literacy myself and learning how to explain our investment philosophy to people in ways they can understand. A new perspective allows you to relate to all levels of knowledge.

I also feel like I’ve learned more practical skills actually working in  the profession, too, outside the classroom. Every day offers a fresh experience, from information about insurance, intricacies of financial planning, and connecting all the dots. It’s great!

YeskeBuie: That “fresh eyes” perspective is so valuable. If you can explain something clearly while you’re still learning it, you’re already thinking like a great planner to-be. Working off that, how has your perspective as a student shaped the way you approach your work here?

Bradley: I would say that really ties in. As a student, you’re learning every day, and keeping your mind open to new ideas is important both as a student and in financial planning. Even talking to financial planners here, I’m learning new ways to study, new formulas, and that growth mindset is really key.

YeskeBuie: Absolutely, that aligns with one of our core values – Learn Big – as we believe learning fuels potential. What skills are you developing during your internship that you hope will make a difference for Clients in the future?

Bradley: Time and task management are some of the skills I’ve honed during my time in school and at YeskeBuie. There are so many moving pieces and time-specific assignments. Delegation and prioritization is key. I can help Clients get information they need by the time they need it, which is so important to overall success.

YeskeBuie: How has this experience influenced how you want to serve people in your career?

Bradley: This internship has shown me how much of an impact a financial planner can have, and I love seeing that impact directly. I’m excited to use my skills and see the impact I can make on both Clients and different communities as my career continues to unfold.

I’m glad I got to assist Clients and witness the team’s wider impact firsthand.

YeskeBuie: It was great watching you interact with Clients at our California Client event this year! Are there any highlight moments from that events that stuck out to you?

Bradley: It was great to put names to faces because I’ve been in the background in meetings, observing and taking notes. Our Clients are such a nice group of people and I loved meeting them! I had some fun conversations, especially about going into financial planning as my future profession. Meeting people from all over the country who were there for one common reason and hearing about the impact planning has had on their lives was an honor.

YeskeBuie: That’s such a fun part of events. Suddenly the relationships feel even more real, and you get to see the bigger YeskeBuie community in action.

And one last fun one — what’s something upcoming that you’re looking forward to?

Bradley: I’m finishing out my last year at school and enjoying the experiences that will bring. I have just one class to finish up next semester, so it’ll be nice to have extra time to spend with friends and family, as well as being able to focus in even more on my work at the firm.

My brother also lives in Japan, and I’m going to visit him pretty soon — I’m really looking forward to that!

Yeske Buie: Wow, it sounds like there’s a lot to look forward to.

Thank you so much, Bradley, for taking the time to sit down and share your experience with us. We can’t wait to hear about your trip and we’re excited to continue watching you grow in the profession.
