Yusuf Abugideiri, CFP® holds an M.A. in Economics from George Mason University and a B.S. in Finance from Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business. He has been practicing financial planning since 2009.

Yusuf has been recognized as a top financial professional by several respected publications. In 2023, Yusuf was named to Forbes’ Best-in-State Wealth Advisor list* which, according to Forbes, represents “the very best advisors [who] are laser focused on making a difference in their clients’ lives.” Additionally, Washingtonian Magazine has named Yusuf a Top Financial Advisor every year since 2019, and he has been named to Northern Virginia Magazine’s list of Top Financial Professionals four times since 2020. Yusuf also appeared in a TV commercial that ran on several networks from 2019-2021 as part of Schwab’s Independent Difference Campaign*. The campaign emphasized the importance of working with an Independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and highlighted the benefits of engaging a fiduciary for financial advice. Earlier in his career, Yusuf was named to InvestmentNews’ 2016 list of 40 Under 40, and to WealthManagement Magazine’s list of Top CFP Holders Under 36 in the same year*. In 2024, Yusuf was named to InvestmentNews’ inaugural list of Rising Stars*, a list of the best Wealth Managers and Advisors under 40.

Yusuf’s recognition by these platforms has been well-earned through his dedication to serving Clients as a fiduciary, and through his leadership within a variety of professional associations.

Since the start of his career, Yusuf has been a member of the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) and is a graduate of FPA’s Residency Program. He has served on the Financial Planning Day and Career Day committees through FPA’s National Capital Area chapter, and has also served on the chapter’s board as the Director of PR, Media Relations, and Communications. He co-authored the article “Serving Millennial Clients with a 3-Step Model” with Russell Kroeger, CFP®, EA, a graduate of Yeske Buie’s Financial Planning Resident Program, which was featured as the cover article for the September 2017 issue. In 2021, Yusuf joined the Journal’s Peer Review Board.

Yusuf is also a member of the CFP Board’s Workforce Development Advisory Group. The group advises CFP Board on initiatives related to attracting the next generation of financial planners, continuing to strengthen the pipeline of talent in the profession, and developing a career path for practitioners. In 2019, the group contributed to the publication of Financial Planning Career Paths: Building More Sustainable and Successful Businesses, a guide that aims to “help firms in the financial planning profession with financial planner recruitment, onboarding, training, career development and retention” and lays out a career ladder for financial planners. In 2021, the group contributed to the Guide to Careers in Financial Planning, which “provides students, recent graduates and career changers with information on starting and sustaining successful financial planning careers.”

In 2020, Yusuf became a member of the Washington D.C. Estate Planning Council. He was recruited to be a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force and he served as the co-chair of the Recruitment Subcommittee. In 2021, Yusuf became a member of the Council’s Board of Directors.

With a strong affinity for his alma mater, Yusuf also served as co-chair of the Recent Alumni Board of the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. He visits campus often to speak in financial planning classes and to give back to the university through various programs.

In his free time, Yusuf enjoys spending time with his wife, Maegan, and their children, Noah and Rian, as well as the rest of their family and friends. His passions include listening to music, watching sports and movies, collecting sneakers, and working out (he’s a certified Peloton addict).

Client Focus: As Chief Investment Officer, Yusuf approaches his relationships with Clients with the mindset of serving as their anchor; he feels that his role is to design a financial plan that serves as the foundation through which they can realize the limitless vision for their life.

Current Update: As 2024 comes to a close, Yusuf is grateful for another BIG year at Yeske Buie. Clients come first, always, and so many of our Clients celebrated momentous milestones this year. And with the year coming to an end, there’s much to focus on regarding tax-planning and beginning-of-year initiatives (in January, keep an eye out for trade confirmations as the team works to invest end-of-year dividends and identifies Safe-Spending Policies targets for 2025!).

At home, it’s birthday season – Noah turns seven, Rian turns four, and Yusuf is another year closer to 40 (2026 😊). The Abugideiri family uses the cluster of birthdays as a way to celebrate the end of another year in the books; although every year presents its challenges, there’s always so much more to appreciate and the birthday/Holiday Season provides daily reminder of what matters most.
