Inflation: A Take That’s Not Our Own (but we like it)

Economy and Investing
You’ve probably seen our posts on inflation over the last year (and if you haven’t, you can find them all at the end of this article). Our stance hasn’t changed:
- We think what we’re observing is explainable,
- We’re not concerned, and
- We believe our Clients’ portfolios are positioned well.
With that being said, we’re tuned in to the latest commentary and information on the topic at all times, if for no other reason than to ensure that our stance shouldn’t be revisited. This past weekend, we came across this post by Andy Serwer, editor-in-chief at YahooFinance. We enjoyed three things in particular about the piece:
- Andy’s review of the current economic circumstances is comprehensive, and yet he manages to be succinct. With so many variables playing into the inflation story, we appreciated his combination of brevity and robustness.
- The historical context he provides is valuable and timely, and Andy does a wonderful job telling the story about how the US has dealt with inflation in the early 80s. His review of history is both engaging and accessible, impressive feats given the topic.
- Andy’s outlook is encouraging, and we don’t think he’s looking through rose-colored glasses (thank you, Joe “Brrrr” Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, for making this a cool reference again…).
