TheLiveBigWay® Digest: Count to Four
Student Loan and College Planning Mini-Series: Part One
For years, students have faced uncertainty regarding their federal student loans. Will they be forgiven? What repayment plan is best? Does the Department of Education even still exist? Last year’s passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) reshaped the landscape for borrowers, bringing revised payment obligations and a new repayment plan. Learn what’s changed and what you can do to adapt to the evolving student loan landscape in Part One of our mini-series.
Two Ways We’re Boosting Financial Literacy
Piggy Banks and Picture Books
Building a foundation for financial security starts long before a first paycheck. Last week, our C3O, Lauren Mireles, visited her children’s classrooms for Working Parents Day. She shared stories about spending, saving, and sharing, and sent every child home with tools to continue the learnings. Small lessons like these add up to create a lifetime filled with well-informed decisions.
Teaching Tomorrow’s Trailblazers
At Junior Achievement Finance Park, eighth graders take on a simulated life, complete with a job, a paycheck, and a family to budget for. How much should that family set aside for rent, utilities, food, and insurance? For many students, the answer is an eye-opener. In a few weeks, members of our East Coast team will return for the fourth time to help guide this year’s class through the process. See what the day looks like from our past visits.
Three to Celebrate
We’re humbled and proud to celebrate three teammates and two recent honors. Elissa and Yusuf have once again been named to Northern Virginia Magazine’s Top Financial Professionals list, an honor that feels especially meaningful as it is determined by nominations from fellow professionals. Additionally, Sydney has been named one of Financial Planning’s 2026 Rising Stars for her pro bono leadership and advocacy work. Way to go, team! Four Money Moments with YeskeBuie Parents
Many of our adult perspectives on money were formed in early childhood. Think about it: When was your earliest money memory? Was it saving up to buy a toy you really wanted? Or opening your first bank account with a loved one? Everyone’s journey looks a bit different, but the goal — feeling confident in future financial decisions — remains the same. Several parents on our team share how they’ve made teachable money moments with their children fun to help you set up the young ones you love for long-term financial success.
